Geriatric Unit Therapist (LCSW, LPCC, LMFT, LPP)

Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System has a dedicated inpatient unit for older adults experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms. The primary focus of the unit is treating older adults experiencing depression, dementia, and behavioral changes, with a goal of assisting in regaining a sense of health and well-being. The therapist serves as a key member of the treatment team providing direct clinical services in the form of individual, family, and group therapy. In addition, the therapist is responsible for completing psychosocial evaluations, developing and implementing master treatment plans, and working with the treatment team to provide appropriate discharges. The therapist also participates in patient care team meetings, working with the team to continuously develop improved programing for our patients. Strengths and qualities needed to successfully complete the job include: excellent communication, time management, organization, ability to multitask, and flexibility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Masters or Doctoral degree in a clinical field such as psychology, social work, professional counseling, or marriage and family therapy. A license or certification is required (CSW, LPCA, MFTa, LPA), and an independent license is preferred (LCSW, LPCC, LMFT, LPP). If an independent practice license is not present, this individual must be clinically supervised and actively work towards their independent licensure. At least two years clinical experience, working with an inpatient or outpatient psychiatric or chemical dependency population is preferred. Experience working with older adults is preferred.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common clinical reports, outcome data, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to document in the medical record effectively to meet regulatory requirements. Ability to communicate on an effective level with both clients and staff from a variety of disciplines.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
